Forests on Fire !
We just got back from a camping trip travelling from Vancouver to Sushwap Lake, which is fairly near Kamloops. Very smoky at the campground (one morning I woke up coughing because of the smoke in the air), and for a time the sky westward was an ominous orange glow.
I understand lightning struck a few times on the 20km long road in from the highway to the campground, closing it temporarily until crews could put it out.
My kudos go out to all those who work in putting out those fires...my nephew in Winnipeg, included!

I live in Silver Creek 12 miles South outside of Salmon Arm in the Salmon River Valley and we just moved back into our house three days ago. Spent seven days on evac. I still have to unload two HD trailers full off our stuff. Mostly my tools and shop equipment. What a pain!
I sure hope that's it for this year. Went through this in '98 as well.
At least we had accomodation and three squares a day on the government ticket
The only thing left to burn in this valley is every thing north of the power line to the North end Silver Creek store. Of course my place is in there surrounded by tall trees. One forestry guy designated it a "Fire trap". Yup, thanks for the worry free evac dude.
Oh well. we cool
