Question Memphis Belle amplifier...

Im thinking of trading up/selling my Esoteric E7 amps to pick up a new Memphis MC1300D memphis belle amplifier. The amp is rated at 75 X4 @4ohms, and 300X1 @4ohms. It has a hybrid design. Front channels are A/B, and the sub channel is a class D.

The sub channel at 1 ohm is 1100 X1.

The main reason im thinking about this is because of the footprint of the amp. The sized is smaller than ONE of my amps, and I'd need 2 of my amps to accomplish what i will with this. Obviously, the space is a premium in a single cab F100.]What are your opinions on the memphis amps? Anyone demo'd or have any recommendations?

Thanks boys!

i like memphis amp, good product but a lil to much $$ for me...interesting idea using front as A/B and rear as D...id say if u got the $$ go for it, and yes, space is tight in a reg. cab...actually how much is it, if u dont mind me askin? i will need to upgrade my amps soon and this might be a possibility...

No, no -- he means 75x4 channels (4 ohms) PLUS 300 for the subwoofer (fifth) channel. It's also a true hybrid design, like the high-end Alpines of a couple of years ago.

I've heard great things about this amp, but is it *really* smaller than what you're using now? The pictures of the MB make it look pretty massive.

Anyway, there's one on eBay now...used, and already getting a lot of bidding going. Might be a way to pick one up for a deal...

Memphis is very nice. I believe that amp is quite slim, but a little long. I have demoed MANY Memphis amps and almost traded my PG Tantrum 1200.1 for the (I don't remember the exact model numbers) 1000D and MXC 300??...the 2 channel, 75x2 amp. They are not underrated, so don't expect the 75x2 to be 95x2. Or the Class D section to be 1300 wrms at 1 ohm. They do, however, give out rated power + about 5% (according to bench tests I've seen published). They stay very cool and are very rugged. If it's in your budget, and you want to simplify your amp setup, go4it. I do believe, however, that the amps I mentioned above (make the 2 channel a 4 channel...they're about the same size, anyways) actually take up less space than the looooong MB amp.

The amps measurements are:
6.5" X 2" X 22.5"

So yes, that is a little long. However, its more shallow and not as wide as my esoteric's and only slightly longer.

The retail price on one of these is $1100. But then the tretail on one of my Esoterics is about $1000, so...
Maybe time to EBAY them ! =P

You might want to double-check those dimensions for the model you're interested in. My recollection was that the 74x4 plux 300x1 model was a *whole lot* longer than 22"...

OK...I'd tend to trust the web site, too...guess I remembered "big." (Kind of amazing that they can put so much into that form factor.) Just make sure to leave a little room for wiring. You gonna go for that one on eBay?

The M.B. amps are really nice! A local stereo shop started selling them and I was able to check them out about a year ago. They still have them and have great things to say about them. They are not very wide but they are really long, lots of power, great sound, great look in chrome.

Well, if you want an amp with somewhat similar form factor and properties, and what seems to be a good deal, check out:

http://www.sounddomain.com/shoplist~...i-Channel+Amps

the refurbished one is one heck of an amp for $200...

Sweet amps, yes. I like Xtant's older chrome models. Unfortunately, i need a 5 channel amp or a 4 channel plus a sub amp. That would defeat the purpose of me switching out my *better* Esoteric amps though...=\
Sweet deals on those refurb Xtant amps though.
