2000 E450 Motorhome -ROTTED cab mount

Hi, Any thoughts on this? Can this be repaired? I just watched a video where a van body was lifted off a chassis. I could almost swap out the cab, since I also have rocker panel issues.. However, with the bunk over the cab, I guess I can't even do that.

Any thoughts? Just drive it until I can't keep the bunk area sealed?

The first pic is the driver's side, the rest are the pass. side.

Thanks

You might also post this in the Paint & Bodywork forum----this is most likely a problem encountered often enough with the F-Series as well. Here's a link there: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum67/

Might also be helpful making the images here a bit more more than thumbnails, giving a better look at things. Not everyone "does facebook" which seems to be linked through the ImageShack site that pops up when clicking on your included images.

All bodies are installed on top of the frame assembly at the factory.

That's why it's so hard to work on the van engine.

When the "newer" 6.0 came out, all F-series are designed to have the cab lifted up for engine service, the cab is basely 'plug-n-play' (seen this at a dealership years ago)

The standard E-series is also designed this way for the 6.0 service.

But, you mentioned the "bulk over the cab" so it sound like your in the same boat I am, with a cube body on the van. A "Cut-away" version of the E-series, made into a motor home.

I have the same problem with the cab supports, too bad this is one place Ford didn't use Stainless steel........

I've used a port-a-ram to lift up the cab where it dropped, and was able to get some new steel in there for support, over the old mounting (puck) isolator.
The cube van I'm driving now, I didn't have time, and have a wood block wedged over the coil spring top bracket, and the cap reinforcement, until I have some free time to get some new steel over the puck. Welding new steel is out, because of the other rot under there, it would just burn away, so tex screws hold it in place.

As the cab "settles" down, it's almost impossible to get the dog house off.

Ideally would be to find a great condition southern cab for this 'replacement' but the work involved to remove the box (camper body) and pull the cab up and off, and install a new cab, I don't think is worth all the extra effort.
