The Dorman module has a lifetime warranty and rubber spacers to keep it off the frame. Around $100 at Autozone. It may be available through Rock auto as well but my attempts at returns to any internet parts dealers have been less than satisfactory. Usually they want you to mail it in so they can look at it then mail you a new one once they deem it warrantable or they just give you the manufacturer contact info.

Can someone point me to the original post on this problem? I have used the search function, searched manually and although I remember reading it recently, can't find it.

I looked for this module on my 2006 f-150 and couldn't find it, so I wanted to look at the pictures again.

It's on the frame crossmember above the spare tire in the rear.

Thanks, I thought that must be it, but I didn't take out the spare to check it out yet.

The Dorman FPDM is $57 at Amazon.
It's above the spare tire - takes longer to lower the spare than to replace the FPDM.
