warped exhaust manifolds
I have an 08 F150 with the 5.4 in it. My exhaust manifold (s) are warping. The exhaust leak isn't that bad yet and it quits once the thing gets warmed up, but it's annoying as heck. Anyone else have the issue? I was going to look at buying headers if I'm going to be buying manifolds anyway. Any suggestions on reasonably priced headers?

Mine's in the shop for this right now. It started on a cross country drive pulling a trailer going about 75mph pretty much all day long. They quoted me anywhere from $700 to $1100 depending on how many of the studs break off in the process. I'll let you know how it goes. If you do a search on here its a common problem which really sucks.

The stud breakage is the killer. I'm guessing that I'll be doing alot of drilling and tapping in a place that's really tight. I think I'm going to order a set of Cat forward headers from SUmmit Racing or somewhere like that. I found decent ones for about 450 bucks. If I'm going to replace them, I may as well beef her up a little.

My 2007 Expedition has a warped manifold on the passenger side. It started on our trip back in June from Texas to Orlando while I was pulling our travel trailer. I just ordered some Gibson model GP218S-C headers for under $400 delivered. Once they come in, I'll be dropping it off at my mechanic. He told me it'll run about $800 just for labor to install them, maybe more if there's trouble. It was either that or pay $600 or more to replace just the passenger side iron manifold with another iron manifold. Since we'll be keeping it for another 3 or more years, I decided to upgrade.

That being said, my pax side ticking drove me nuts so I had it changed and had the drivers side changed at the same time even though it was perfectly fine.

Got mine back from the shop yesterday. $850 Installed. I went with another stock manifold because I didn't want to pay for the labor to replace both of them if I didn't have to. I've put about 3 grand in my 05 FX4 since I got it in October. I hope this is the last of the troubles for a while. NLPRacing I had the same deal. I was driving cross country pulling a trailer when mine went.
