I put a Heidts Mustang 11 rack & piņon kit on my 49 Ford F1. I though I had it all set but I can't get the brake hoses where they will not get hung up by the springs sometime down the road. The kit comes with what they listed as 82-87 Camaro calipers. The calipers mount on the back of the wheel and the brake hoses will go towards the front of the truck.
What hoses are you using and can you post pictures of what you did?

 

Curious why your brake hoses go towards the front of the truck? Every car I have had has the hoses going towards the rear away from the suspension.

 

This is a Mustang II on a F-1 with Camaro brakes. The hoses stay to the rear.

 

I'm using the TCI stainless steel hoses that came with the TCI M2 kit(which I'm pretty sure is pretty much what you have(design-wise and parts-wise). I had the hardpoints so the hoses exited to the rear, and likewise, I could find no way to keep them out of the coil springs(upon full turn). I finally gave up and moved the hard mounts to the front of the truck and I've had no problems since. I don't have any pictures and it may be awhile before I can get you some.

 

Mine were like that, but upon full turn, the hose would enter between the coils on the spring.

 

What do you mean by the hard points ? On my clippers there is a recess that the hose must go in and it makes the hose go towards the front. I took pictures but I do not know how to post them here.

 

Hard points would be the non-moveable points where the hose attaches to the frame. I welded mine on, so that was not predetermined in my application. My calipers also had the slots pointing towards the front of the truck.

I just parted out an 86 Z28 last week, the front brake hoses are very long and if you used them you may be able to have them run up around the front of the caliper like the Z did. The z28 has struts up front and the springs are way inboard of the brakes, there is a mount on the strut that the hose clips to before it turned towards the rear of the suspension. I have the calipers in the garage but I dont think I have any monte ones left to compare to.
Other option is possibly you could use 1980-88 monte carlo calipers. They use a regular coil spring suspension and may have the hose connection point in a better spot. Just have to confirm the mounting bolts are in the same location.
