Towing Capacity F250 6.2L Crew Cab 3.73 Axle

What is the recommended towing capacity of a 2013 F250 6.2L Crew Cab with a 3.73 axle. I read that the capacity is 12400, but that seems low. Any help would be appreciated. Looking at buying a 5th Wheel with gross of 15,500.

Thanks,

Thanks,
That is your capacity. For 15.5 you are going to need a diesel. I would have to look it up but I think the only 6.2 that might put you near 15,500 is a 350 single cab with 4.30 gears.

The heaviest you can tow with a 6.2 is 15,700lbs.

My 2013 SC 2wd DRW 4.30 gears is rated to pull 15600, our trailer is 15900 last year when I weighed. Your biggest problem is the 3.73 gears and the weight you will be putting on the truck, our trailer puts 3200 to 3400 lbs on the pin. You also have to look past all the ratings and look at the trailer, will it have standard undersized brakes that most units come with or have they been upgraded, when we ordered ours we upgraded to Dexter HD brakes 12 x 2 to 12.25 x 3.375 big difference. Remember it's not only pulling it it's also stopping.

** What Denny said !! **

It can't be said enough times. I saw a 12,000 lb travel trailer being pulled with a Chevy Luv once and I got as far away from them as fast as I could. I'm sure they were proud of themselves.

As for brakes, my understanding was that all 13's and newer had larger rotors than the 11's and 12's. I didn't even realize that there was a better option.

The better brakes being referred to above is on the trailer not truck

If your talking about my post I was talking about upgraded brakes I ordered as a option on our trailer.

As I read that again, it was clear you were referring to the trailer. Too long of a day at work I guess.
