Noise when pulling my trailer
Hi guys.
I have a 2005 F150 supercab 4wd with a 5.4 with 100k,
I bought a new travel trailer and the family and I took it out on
our first outing and while I was pulling it, I noticed a rattling noise, I happens when I'm pulling hills and I noticed that if I hit some pretty good
bumps I hear it but just normal cruising we hear nothing, the noise sounds like a heat shield rattling but I had all that check the other day and was told everything was tight and looked good. I had the plugs replaced about 4,000 miles ago, I;ve read where some guys were talking about the 4wd wanting to engage, and the cam phasers may be faulty. When I'm not towing the pickup is as quiet as can be. No codes, doesnt over head, doesnt miss etc. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on what this can be?
Were planning some outings this summer and I really need to get this fixed.
Any info is greatly appreciated!
thanks,
Ed

Can you be more descriptive about the sound?
If a buzzing or grinding sound in the front wheel area, I would look at the IWEs for the 4WD (vacuum leak).
If a thumping or clunking sound I would check the trailer ... draw bar/trailer tongue level, ball is well greased, etc. Or the trailer springs, etc.
