Gasoline in a diesel engine = best mileage ever?

There are a lot of articles saying that a diesel engine running on gasoline is the next best thing since sliced bread.
Obviously, they must be using different fuel pumps than the stock diesel setup, because we all know that gasoline can grenade fuel pumps on a diesel.
That being said, what if we mixed gasoline with a bunch of 2 stroke oil, or engine oil, or fuel additive to get the gasoline to the same lubricity as diesel oil?
Anyone ever tried it?
The results look promising enough to want to know the answer.

well, we know that diesel contains more energy per gallon than gasoline, so i don't see this being more efficient.
as for putting a carb on top of a diesel, well how do you feel about blowing up your engine - the heat of compression would ignite the fuel mix way too early and have nasty detonation effects on the engine.
doesn't look like one i would want to try unless my goal was experimenting on something that was about to be sent to the crusher anyway

MPG is nice, but crap it would be nice if diesel went back to being cheaper than gas for F*** sakes already.
With soaring diesel prices, and the diesel option costing so much more, along with modern engine reliability issues, who knows.... all I know is I'm interested in hearing promising leads on alternatives haha.

Diesel Rug blends have been done when using WMO to make it start easyer, I have ran 60% virgin motor oil Diesel blends with no problems is stock fuel system in 91 Idi, your 6.o should have plastic fuel lines, so should be ok to run BIO, ford says no more than 10%....throw that truck away and get a Idi, when diesel gets more expensive just burn suntan lotion.

Now, when you guys say "virgin oil", what exactly are you talking about? What weight?
And Parkland, I'd be hard pressed to find any new motor oil that costs less per gallon than diesel. Even buying it in 5-gallon buckets it still costs $12 a gallon or so. What's your secret?

Assuming you're using US gallons (maybe you aren't),
3.78541 L / gallon
Diesel $1.45 / L
1 gallon diesel = $5.49
Oil:
20 liters (5.28344 gal) for $30
Or $5.68 per gallon

^^^^ Um, the math is easier if you DON'T convert to gallons. 20-liter pail of oil for $30 is $1.50 / liter, 5 cents a liter more than the diesel. So it's close.
Stateside, we're paying aprx. $4/gallon for diesel. The "pails" of oil here are 5-gallon, and even the cheapest oil is aprx. $40/pail, so about twice the price of fuel. So Canada is experiencing cheaper oil, and more expensive fuel, than we get.
So why does that article, after talking about getting rid of the throttle and spark plugs, show an animated diagram of an Otto-cycle engine?
