hi beams

hi beams on 2013 explorer seem to light up vertically rather than horizontally. It lights up the top of 70 foot trees but doesn't seem to help driving much more than low beams. Dealer says nothing is wrong but he hasn't driven it at night. Anyone else notice this. Thank you

I noticed it on my 2014 also. It is the nature of the beast I guess with the projector lights. I took mine in to dealer and they adjusted but were worse when I got it back. I made my own adjustment at night but the vertical cannot be adjusted to horizontal as far as I can tell, I could not find a lateral adjustment screw anywhere.

My 2003 F-250 and 2010 F-150 Lariat does the same thing...it would seem FORD should work on a better high beam system. I have to rely on my driving lamps on my 250 and am SOL on the 150 ....

Honestly I've rarely looked at either of our 2013's...

but park about 10' away from your closed garage doors (or pointed at a blank wall) at night and take a picture of the beam pattern..

let's see what we see

Most vehicles I've had had some odd beam pattern with the exception of the wife's 2011 Audi Xenon's and it had a top cutoff like it was done by a razor knife !

Here's a link to the Ford video on how to adjust the headlamps:

http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Fo...adlampAdj2.wmv

Since they only use a single filament bulb along with a mechanical shutter assembly in the headlamp to provide low / high beams the amount of adjustability is limited.
