First Tow with the Eco Boost

Drove down to MN on Thurs to pick up a new camper I bought. Trailer is 8000lbs and 34ft and the truck handled it surprisingly well. I got 17 MPG on the 1100km trip down and averaged 7.5 MPG on the trip home. All in all it towed better than I thought it would but I still miss my F350 for jobs like that!!

Did the trailer flatten out the springs much? Did the weight distributing hitch level it out well?
When I had a trailer like that it almost completely squished my 2000 F250. I had to add the air bellows to level the truck out.

The trailer did squat the back end down quite a bit but the load leveller hitch helped tremendously. It sat damn near level once we got that hooked up. To be honest I fully expected it to squat a lot more than it did.

Nice looking setup! What gears do you have?? You should look into getting the telescoping tow mirrors. Much nicer for towing...

Thanks! I've got the 3.55 gears and I would get the mirrors but I won't be towing the trailer much. Most likely to a lot at the lake and then leave it there. I'd definitely need an F350 again if I planned on towing it all the time!!

Check out etrailer.com I've got those snap on tow mirrors and they look and work great. I'm not a fan of the big mirrors on my F150 they just look to large on a non lifted truck.

Thanks conger, I already have a set of strap on mirrors that I use. They're not perfect but they work good enough for the small amount I'll be towing this trailer. Cheers

These trucks sure do great towing! I just wanted to add a suggestion for a suspension upgrade with Torklift StableLoads.
They are going to greatly reduce side to side sway, sag and trailer bounce. It also easily disengages when you're not towing and will make your ride much smoother.
