1962 F-100 Unibody Disc Brake Conversion

Im looking to buy the conversion kit from speedway motors...

Deluxe Disc Brake Kits: 1957-1964 Ford Half Ton - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop

Has anyone had any experience with this kit and how well it installs?

Should I be installing a proportioning valve, double master cylinder and booster? If so would I be able to pull a booster from a 65 f100? What could I pull the proportioning valve and/or master cylinder off of or buy new?

Thanks!!!!

Save your money. Drum brakes are as good as disk when used on a street driven truck. Ain't no advantage unless you race this thing or haul a lot. One improvement that won't cost a fortune and will provide real safety is a dual chamber master cylinder set up. If you have a few extra bucks add a booster. Power drum/drum brakes have been used successfully for decades and will provide good service for the money. Check out Master Power Brake for some good options. Spend your money on King Pins and bushings, spring shackles and a front end alignment. IMHO.

disc swap

I performed the Speedway disc swap on my '62 and it is awesome! Easy to install and you don't need a booster. If you didn't do it yet you should. You cannot source the parts out any less expensive. Use a Master cylinder for a early '70's F150 and a block for a chevy truck, you can get them (the block) from Jegs for about a $50. Have fun! If you have the stock inne wheels, you can either use a 1/2" spacer to clear the calipers or remove the rivets holding the wheels together, remove the center of the wheel and reinstall it backwards, weld the wheel back together and then they will clear the calipers without the use of a spacer.
