Cover my 77 stepside box

the truck is a 1977 4x4 short box stepside.Looking for options to cover the bed.
I know others have done this so any ideas would be appreciated.
Would like a soft tonneau if possible but a hard shell would work to.
Thanks Gary

a lot of things to consider,[security level] soft that can be cut with pocket knife, certain models rely on your tailgate to lock,if your going to remove often ease of installation.

Security not so much an issue I live near detroit,no crime here LOL!!
Really not an issue since the back gate doesnt lock any way.Just needs to keep the rain and sun out not the thieves.
Thanks

Well let me in on all the choices please.I would think one would have to be custom made or is there a source that sells soft covers for a 77 short box stepside?

Oh,missed that stepside part, unless you could talk them in to custom built units, you are at the mercy of having upholstery shop, build you one or possibly modify factory made unit.good luck.

I had a tarp shop make one since I wanted it in white and the only ones I could find were black (79 shorty stepside F100). I used the old school snaps since they fit the era of the truck and had them sew on some velcro loops to where I could roll it up when needed. I think it was around $250.00 installed, like 9 or 10 years ago. They also made a Ford Blue Oval in the center of it, well, it was just stitched, but it looked good.

If you want black places like JC Whitney should have them, they'll more or less be univeral with velcro strips but they'll work. You might be able to find the tri-fold ones as well that you don't need the hoops for.
