2008 Expedition emergencyehicle 5.4L. spark plug replacement

90K
Expedition is used for emergent blood transport.
We are all volunteer and I am preparing to change the spark plugs.

Conflicting procedures on changing the spark plugs.

Expedition has brown boots over the spark plugs.
Does that mean we need not soak carbon solvent in the sparkplug wells to avoid breaking off the Motorcraft sparkplugs?

Surprisingly, Ford dealer service supervisor suggests Champion irridium spark plugs over Motorcraft spark plugs.

We cannot afford to break any spark plugs in the head. Must get the SUV back in service as soon as possible.

Your opinions and suggestions?

Thank you.

Get the Lisle extractor before you start and use Motorcraft plugs.

brown spark plug boots should mean that it is updated plug design and they are not prone to braking in the head. should be good to go like every other plug change.

Thank you.
I was considering that.
Can I return it if unused?

What is the updated plug?

Ford dealer said there is nothing in Ford's TSB about the boot color meaning anything.
(When I get to the vehicle, I'll pull a coil and read the spark plug.)
Thank you.

That's a question for the place you buy it from. They are also on eBay used from time to time.
