Does anyone know if the low tire psi alarm can malfunction in cold weather? Mine started going off today after a night sitting outside in single digit temperatures. I can't see any evidence that any of the tires are getting low. Just curious. Thanks.

 

I think the cold air and alloy rims cause air to leak out, not enough to be noticeable though. My escape has a low tire pressure message right now...

 

OK, thanks 2ndStroke. I thought it was probably that. I hadn't had any trouble until this cold blast came in. Thanks again.

 

The cold temps will reduce pressures (google Gay-Lussac's Law for more detail, ad nauseum).

Kick the pressure up a couple psi and see if that cures it.

I had the batteries fail on 2 of mine within a few months of each other. Pricey little suckers.

 

Happened to my truck 2 winters in a row, lucked out my truck had to go to the dealership for a nox sensor replacement and second time for a oil change, nice mechanics took care of the light for me.
