1962 F100 Restomod

I have just started working a project that really means alot to me. It is a 1962 F100 Uni-body pick up. I use to have a 61 that my stepfather gave me a long time ago. When my stepfather passed away my mother ended up moving. The truck had gotten left behind and then disappeared. My brother gave me this 62 in place of it so I am building it in memory of my stepfather.

Good luck! What are your plans for her? I bought my first one in 86 because l had a good friend that had one. He died and a few weeks later l was at the salvage yard and there was one just like his. I have had it ever since. Another year or so and mine should be back on the road.

So far I am planning a Crown Vic front end swap, boxing in the frame for strength, and doing a frame off. I am still working out what engine I want to run in it.

I see the F O R D is in the center of the grill. Would that make it a 61?

I noticed that when my brother gave it to me and he swears it's a 62. It has been wreaked in the front so I'm thinking someone put a 61 grill and upper piece in it.

Vin is camera washed

The first three look like 154 Which makes it a march of 1960 production.

150,000 to 159,999

Its a 61.

The plate is a 61 or 62 plate by use of the serial number above the VIN. Later 63 up plates removed this nomenclature to say "Warranty Number"

I started dis-assembly last weekend. I got the front end off and found a lot more sure holes than I thought.
The jnuts on the fenders were broken so I had to cut holes in them just to get them off.
This is the amount of bondo I found in the passenger side fender.

Well I got more work done of it yesterday. It's a little cold out there today so I'm going to do more research of parts that I know I need so far. Here are a few pics of what I got done yesterday.
I took the seat, fuel tank, and mats out and this is what I found.

The steering column was kind of fun to take out but I got it.

I know they make the two floorboad panels but does anyone know if anyone makes the lower firewall panel?
