Replacing bushings and King pins

I am replacing my king pins and bushings on my 1960 f100 truck. I have read here I will need to drill out the bushings before the new king pin will work. I already have one set of bushings in and did not want to force the pin in so I stopped. What size drill bit should I use and any other suggestions.
thanks

Replacing bushings and King pins

Dear Egg,

Please, DO NOT use any drill bit at all on those bushings.

You need to "ream" them to size, and that needs to be done with the proper reamer that will align the finished bores together. If you don't have the right tool, take your spindles to a shop to have the job done. Anything less will result in failure and more expense.

Also, there is a hole in the side of each bushing which must be lined up with the grease fitting holes in the spindle. If you don't do this, you can't lubricate the new bushings and pins.

Hope I caught you in time.

Aloha, Tony

Thanks, for the advice. I knew about the grease hole. Will look for a shop.

Shops that take care of big trucks should have the tools needed for the job.

Found a local shop that did a great job. They had to look for their reamer, they had not done one in a long time.
Thanks for the help.
