So now that the government is shut down do you think they'll stop this stupid ledge project at exit 8? Of course not, I'm sure the money is already "appropriated". As the project materializes I am amazed at the amount of destruction they are imposing on what was a pretty scenic spot with lots of trees. Looks like a war zone now - scorched earth!

Not sure what there will be left to see when they get done. I spoke to a couple of AOT friends who said the real reason for this project is to get a bit more sunlight into what was a cold spot. I haven't seen any significant ledge falling down here in 30 years and the trees held the ledge back pretty well before they cut them all down to make things "safer". Can't say I'm very pleased with what they're doing. And I know the business community is really upset because the peak foliage time is big for the local stores and they're afraid people will just drive on by because of the exit north being shut down for a month. Timing on this really is pretty poor.
