Rebuilding an 8BA

Couple of questions on rebuilding a flattie.

First a general overview.

I am rebuilding an 8BA falthead in near stock fashion with the intent to put it in to an 8N ford tractor. the only mods I am intending on doing are going to solid adjustable lifters and converting to twelve volt electrical for the eases of getting parts. I have done several 12V conversions for myself and other people so my questions are basicly engine related. I have a good block with standard bore that appears to be re-ringable and .010 under cranks and mains. The final determination on that will be the machinist whom I intend to take it to in a week or so. I have no apparant cracks in either the block deck or the heads. I boiled the water jackets in muratic acid so they are no longer filled with rust. I seem to be working with a good rebuildible block. I think it was overhauled then left to set. (Rememeber I have not been to the machinist yet!)

1-I would like to reuse my old oil pump as it will pump gasoline from the pan when I spin it with my fingers. I find no obvious wear inside. Does anyone sell just the gaskets for the pump pickup and the bottom of the pump assy? If not does anyone know how thick the bottom gasket should be as that needs to be spot on. That way I can make some.

2- I would also like to reuse the cam as it mikes out A-ok. Though I would like to switch to NEW johnson adjustable lifters. Do I need to resurface the cam or can I simply drop in the new lifters and run it. I understand the need to use proper oil.

3- Does anyone make a combination centrifugal/vaccum advance distributor? I can find one or the other. How about a conversion to a Y block or FE points dizzy?

4-Is there any sources out there for 50s style pickup waterpumps cheeper than speedway. Stock style US made? NOS?

Any help would be great.

thanks,

Flip

The best price I found for water pumps is Bob Drake reproductions. $99.50 for the pair.
