Weight Class

Hey y'all,

Being a new resident, got a question with the whole weight class sticker.

When I got the tag for the truck, it weighed in just shy of 5000 lbs, slapping that Tier 2 sticker on the window and jacking up the cost of the plate. I weighed in with the cap and almost two full tanks of gas...

I'll be pulling the cap off at some time...once I do (and run the tanks down) can I go get reweighed and dropped to a lighter truck class?

They tried to slap a class 2 sticker on my pickup going by the title's GVWR rating. I peeled it back off lol. I think that's what they go by for determining class of truck - the title.

Welcome to PA, by the way.

Just register it at a lower class as long as your title says it under 5000 laden weight.

Classes for gross vehicle weight run:
5000 or lower $58.50
5001-7000 $81.00
7001-9000 $153.00
9001-10000 $198.00

I have my Super Duty GVWR in class 2 as well.

I find most places once they see the 3/4 ton or higher want to throw you into class 2. They even tried it when I had my f150 cause they determined if I hauled anything in the bed it would put me over the 5000 mark.

Yep Jordan, you're right. I got a call the other day from the messenger service the other day asking me about my weight class sticker. I told them I would stop in one of these days and pick it up. It still wont see my windshield...
