Afternoon Walt. 94K on a 300 six is not much depending on the maintenance he's done. Not much different checking things. Check the radiator fluid, check the oil and trans oil for burnt smell, color, etc.

The 300 would be a great engine/trans combo for your 62! Pull the smog crap off. Install a Offie 4 bbl manifold, 350 Holly, and a set of headers, amd BINGO! Plenty of pull power and 20+mpg!

It's what I've got in my 67 shortbed......

What gear ratio do you have in your rear end?

Should the 84 have a computer and electonic ignition?

I have no idea what the ratio is Walt.............But I can look when I go to the shop tomorrow.

An 84 will NOT have a computer, but will have Duraspark ign. It may have a "feedback" carb on it but it can be thrown in the junk and replaced with a different one.

Probably no feedback computer carb on a 300-6 1bbl, that went mostly to the 302s with the 2bbl 2150A feedback carb.
