Changing Tranny Oil - do I need to change the Tranny Filter too?

Have another question (sorry I have more questions than answers)....

Getting ready to change the transmission fluid (has 70k miles) - heading to AAMCO to do the service.

My questions -
1. AAMCO says their transmission oil is synthetic, and exceeds manufacturers recommendations. I assume that is true - anyone know different?

2. Does the transmission filter need to be changed? Dealership said it was not a paper filter, and therefore is not changed. I've heard complaints about this dealership before, so I'm not sure if I want to take thier word.

Thanks for any help.

Well, checked with a few dealerships and asked around as well.

The majority says to flush the tranny fluid at 60k - 80k, then flush again every 30k miles thereafter. Dealerships said I could wait until the next flush to swap out the tranny filter.

Change the filter. No sense in putting in clean fluid with a dirty filter. They are not that expensive.
