Well here ya go folks, advice away, The first few shots I am getting it ready, stripped and stacks off, took it down to Alan's on Tuesday.
That night he replaced the heater core and remover 2 ft worth of mouse nest in the duct work.
Discover that both rear axles seals were pretty much shot. So new seals and rear brakes and one wheel cylinder. And 2 broken axle bolts repaired.
Today we had a proper little GTG we were up to 4 FTE'ers here today, the work total for the day is:
-the floors are done
-the front end is stripped off
-the rear axle is done (broken axle bolts fixed and all)
-rust at the bottom of the driver's door fixed
-bottom of passenger door is rebuilt
-all the dents are popped out
-front fenders are stripped and ready for some mud work
I found out paint supplies, (even cheap paint) are NOT inexpensive. Hope we should have everything to finish it up. Alan just spray bombed some primer on the bare metal spots until he can get back to it on Monday.
We still have to get the rear window replaced, replace the cab lights, and finish the paint work and put it back together. This should be one of the fastest restorations he's ever done.
Then black flat bed time and work over the interior....more to follow.

For the record, I didn't leave the rust you can see in the floor pan. That was cut out and replaced as well. Every time I beat on the floor to fit another piece, what was a pin hole or just light scale, opened up into a crater. I finally got the rust under control when about 80% of the floor pan was new.
I have the engine swap to do today, but I'll probably tinker with it some more on Monday. I'm still not sure about that, though. We'll see how the swap goes. I don't want to rush the engine job and have something go wrong.

I had a few other things to do today, so I couldn't do everything I wanted, but I got a couple things done.
I got the front clip stripped, the hood off, and the mud work done on the clip and driver's door and a coat of primer on everything. (everything that I stripped, that is.)
If I had a proper shop to work in, this thing would be MUCH further along. I'm not happy with the bottom of the driver's door. I guess I'll have to go back and reshape the lower body line. Rich said all I have to really do is get the driver's side and the hood nice since that's all he'll see.
I'll just go ahead and get the passenger side nice, so Penny has something to look at, too.

Tinted slider back window, bright red paint, new clearance lights and reassemble. Then it's up to Rich to finish it up.
I just have to finish stripping the old paint and do the rest of metal and mud work before I can make it red. I was going to do a little welding when I got home, but it was raining. Maybe tomorrow.
