Ford mp3 player
I don't know anything about Ford's MP3 player, but I know that many CD readers can't read computer CD's unless the session is finalized and the disc is closed. There should be options somewhere in your CD recording program such as "finalize session after recording" or "close CD on completion." Make sure that all of these are selected when you burn a CD. Not sure if this is the problem you're having or not, but I hope it helps.

What burner software are you using?
My Sony Explode MP3 player will only accept files that are burned in Romeo or Juliett format, I have no Idea what that means but it works. I'm using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 and I always burn at a slow speed no more than 6x . Also I've heard that using cheap blanks will cause problems. Try using the black CDs they last longer and are less prone to scratch.
