Blue Ghost 445 Stroker Build Thread :D
Here we go! The Blue Ghost (74 highboy) turns out has a 360 not a 390 like the PO said and on top of that has worn cam bearings and now possibly a slight crack in a seal cuz looks like I have oil in the radiator.... So I got a 4bbl 390 from a 66 galaxy and will start the 445 build to replace the 360 so I will keep everyone updated with pictures and what's going on right here! So stay tuned pics are soon to come and I better get to work cuz ill need the money after this is done haha

Now it has officially started!! I ordered the 445 kit from survival FE! Going with the lower compression. So far im in debate over what cam to run. I was going to do a roller but that's more then I can afford so the debate is solid or hydro flat tappet cam now....
The plus side! I just got a set of edelbrock performer rpm heads for $1300!!!! NIB and these will be matched up with the performer rpm intake I just ordered. This is going to be a sweet build!
Also going with a march performance serpentine kit. Figured if I was going to go all out, id get rid of the v belts.... Now I know that price difference for the serpentine could get me a roller engine almost but looking at all in $ numbers, im better off doing a roller later. And this is going in the highboy so its not exactly a hipo drag truck.
Im also going with a 3 row champion aluminum radiator and hopefully hydro boost braking system
And to top off this sweet engine. I have a new set of headman headers all ceramic coated and some cut outs #overbored but hey this is going to be awesome!
And to back up this monster engine will be a new C6 from broader performance
Ill get pics and all in the next few weeks as I get started on this

Sounds like fun. I just got finished building a 428 and getting it in my '76 F-100 4x4. I kept the build fairly mild. Bored .030 over. D2TE-AA heads with a little home porting and installed new cobra jet sized valves - 2.09 intake and 1.65 exhaust. Those Edelbrock heads you got should be that size. I also used the Performer RPM intake. I started out with the Performer RPM cam also but I had some major issues with it bending pushrods and I ended up wiping several lobes on it.
I ended up going with a Comp Cams 280H cam. It has been great. It has a nice lope to the idle but is still very streetable and still pulls pretty good even in the low end and I have fairly low gearing with my NP-435, 3.50 gears, and 34" tires. It makes power up to right about 6000 RPM, a little overkill in a truck but I've really enjoyed this cam so far. I would definitely recommend the Comp 280H cam or Comp 270H if you wanted it to be slightly milder. I'll try and get a video if you want to hear what it sounds like running as there aren't very many videos out there of the 280H cam. Let me know.
I am running an Edelbrock 800CFM Thunder Series carb. On my other F-100 with a 360 I've been running an Edelbrock carb for close to three years and have enjoyed it. Easy to tune and adjust and it hasn't given me any problems yet.
Let us know how the motor comes together. Good luck.

I had a 770 Holley truck avanger and it had a high end flat spot. Swapped for a 670 TA and it woke the beast up!
She's a good ripper of a motor and I love it!
Need a better clutch now as mine is slipping. Thinking a dual friction style one is needed to hold onto the power.

Sounds like my motor pretty much spot on.
