HELP!!! I'm trying to get into a Leer 700 Tonneau cover on a F150 .
The key turns but it wont unlock the handle . It seems to be as if the cam on the lock came off .
Is there a way to open it without damaging the cover. Can someone post a picture of the locking system so I can try to get this open without damage to the cover or tailgate. Any ideas would help.

 

If the lock can be replaced easily, just drill out the old lock.

Late reply here, but I think it will depend on the year the cap was made.

I can tell you that the one I had on my 2003 Silverado had latches inside that activated with a cable that pulled a lever on the latch. Mine had a button style lock - you pushed it with your thumb vs. a lever/T handle that you rotate. I believe I got the cap in 2004.

If the latches are the same style I had you can reach inside the side of the cap and attempt to pop the latch levers with a piece of coat hanger or something. It would not be easy to do, I can tell you that much.
