Dual Build Father and Son

Well I will start this build thread and we will keep updating it as we go. I am working on my 1959 f100 and my son is building a 1960 f100. My truck will have a 460 c6 combo and his will be a 292 4 speed old school hot rod. We have both trucks underway and will get pics up soon. I need to hit you guys up though and see if any one has a stock trans cross member. the 1960 frame is missing one so let me know.

Sounds like you guys will have a lot of fun. Are you sharing the same work space as well?

It appears your family has the orphan years pretty well covered. What's the '57 like?

Yes it will be fun and yes we will be sharing the same space. We have a 6500 sf shop at our house so we have the room. Ok I guess I will start out with my truck the "59" even though it has a 58 hood and grill
Here it is when I got it about two years ago

getting a new cab

and where it is now

The 60 was some ones 4x4 conversion that went horribly wrong they made lift blocks out of wood and it just went down hill from there, so we put it back to 2 wheel drive and started to lower it

Then we pulled the front wrap to get ready for the motor install and clean up the fire wall

And that gets you pretty much up to date. we have four of these trucks as of now and tons of parts. as for the 57 its in good shape but the motor will need a complete over haul and there is rust in the cab supports. We need to find a grill and a good hood so we will just find all the parts we need then do it all original.

Going to enjoy this thread; I will be building a 57 myself after a couple other trucks. Got me already wondering seeing the front bumper on your 60 model; I got a different type on my 57; like the look of yours better.

Yeah, the 57 grill is so much cooler! I need a grill for my 57, does anyone have one?

Anyways, my 60 is very straight, with minimal rust, the cab is nearly rust free.

Also! Post some pics of your trucks on here! I would like to see some of them!(:

Looking good. Wish my 57 was as good as yours, and NO, you can't have my grille, LOL.

Dang....what I wouldn't do to have a 6500 sq. ft. shop!!! I'd even settle for a 650 sq. ft. shop for my fridge!

It's sooo cool to see a father and son project. My '59 is kinda like that. It will be Dad's truck when it's done. We built one for me 'back in the day'; a '73 challenger with a 343 & 4sp.

OP, my hat is off to you. You're not just a father, you're a Dad. Big difference

So just insist that she helps with these two. She may prove to be better than both of ya.
Wouldn't that make Dad proud..........

Well We moved the motor around to get it cleaned up and ready. This is a good running rebuilt 1960 292 we had in stock complete with a 4 speed.
It is going to get cleaned up and painted. Still need a cross member

Should get it cleaned up, the fire wall cleaned up and motor in this weekend.. As for my daughter she already knows how to work on cars. we rebuild four wheelers and motorcycles as well, and she can already build the motors and take apart the transmissions and put them back together.
She wants me to teach her how to paint next so maybe we will let her do the primer to get her started.

Looks good. To bad about that crossmember, I cut mine out and tossed it because I didn't need it. I still need to remove the ends in the frame. I'll keep an eye out though.
