I thought I was getting the golden brown color, I had no idea Kodiak Brown was black with gold metal flakes?
It still looks good though, the cap is a Jason,Trek the color is a little off in full sun but not really noticable. I just added Bilstien 5100's at 500 miles on truck, very much improved ride, I have had regular Bilstiens on every truck I have owned and very happy with them. I also added a CB to the center seat headrest like some others have posted and put a magnet mount antenna untill I can come up with something better, I can hear the whistle of the wip inside truck, its a little wilson, I had a wilson 1000 first but it was too loud, I had the same 1000 antenna on my 08 Diesel but could not hear it, I could also hear it on my F150, this truck is the quietest I have had yet. Love it. I almost went with Nito tera graplers in 285-75-17's they are listed about an 1 1/2" taller (34's vs bfg's at 32.5"s) and would fill out the wheel better maybee I'll try them when I burn off these, this truck is fun to drive

That doesn't look Kodiak brown at all. Mine is tuxedo black and that looks just like mine. It has metallic flecks in it. I'd check the vehicle sticker. I've seen a bunch in the brown and it looks great.

 

The brochure shows the other brown that has been available the last couple years and thats what I thought I was getting. The cap came in first and the guy called me and said it looks black and then I googled "kadiak brown looks black" and found dozens of posts on different forums about how Ford has this color for the explorer and escape as well and its basically black with gold metel flakes. If you stick your face 1" from it it looks brown? You can see the gold flakes in the caps paint but it looks darker.

The window sticker does say Kodiak Brown paint code J1. I live on a dirt road so would love dirt road brown if they ever try that color!

 

Kind of the same thing that happened to us, the color on the Ford site was the 2012 color but it was called Kodiak Brown. About a month after we placed the order we found one on a Ford lot and to our surprise what we thought was a Metallic Black was Kodiak Brown. We ordered ours with the Adobe two tone so it should break up all the dark paint. It is a nice looking color so I know we will be happy with it but keeping it clean may be problem. I always liked black trucks so now I guess we will have one with a hint of brown. Now we just need the truck.
