(BSEG)? Big **** Eating Grin

So im starting to get the new truck bug, my current truck is a 03 SD cc 4x4 V10 which has been flawless for 85,000 miles, And after much research on the 6.2 i dont see alot of guys bragging like the old BSEG thread from years back. In fact it was that thread that made my mind up on the V10. So what gives with this engine, is Ford holding back on the hp and torque for the comming years?

I think its just a good solid motor...no "flash", no "wow factor", just a good motor that does what it needs to do... At least how I feel about it.

I was one of the BSEG group a few years back, I will know if the 6.2 gives me the same felling in a few weeks or when ever I get the truck.

The 6.2 is way faster than the 2v v10 from what I've been hearing but nobody has compared the towing yet. I would love a good comparison of a 3v v10 to a 6.2 towing the same load. The 3v is a beast compared to the 2v but the 6.2 just doesn't have the have the numbers to impress me, the six speed would be awesome.

Did the Ohio truck meet guys put a 6.2L against the V10 at one point?

I have driven 2 different 09 V10's one a new supercab 4x4 and the other a crewcab the crewcab had abt 80,000km and the other maybe 3k. I never towed with either of them and I don't jump on the gas just because so IMO neither of the V10 trucks stood out to me as OMG this thing hauls, they worked well and were smooth but that's it to me. My current 6.2 also does a good job and I have towed with it and am very happy with it's towing so far. The one thing the V10 will never have IMO and that is a decent exhaust note, the factory 6.2 exhaust is one the nicest sounding factory exhausts I have heard. BTW IMO the 09 Lariat crewcab seemed to be better built than my current 11 Lariat.

The 6.2 won't have the OMG factor (have to go diesel for that). It's a solid motor that matches well with the 6sp tranny and gets the job done without much fanfare. It tows our 33' trailer and all the stuff a family if 4 can carry nicely. I pull through the Cdn Rockies regularly and can maintain the speed limit on any grade and pass when and if I have to. Engine sound is never strained or annoying as it drops to lower gears.

BSEG is a V10 term, I don't think any of us 6.2 owners have come up with something for the 6.2.

And yes, my 6.2 and Quad Racer's V10 were both at the last Ohio meet. Check the latest Ohio meet thread for the link and times. Spoiler alert!!!! 6.2

I have nothing but great things to say about the V10 though, I loved mine and would've bought another one if Ford would've kept packin' 'em into the SD's. I got what's available and am completely satisfied.

Hey 8iron, what's your weight of trailer and do you have the 3.73 or 4.30 gears?

3.73 and the trailer is a bit under 8000# loaded. Truck bed is usually loaded with genset, bikes, toys extra water etc.

Thanks! Ours is 10k and while I would hope to find a 4.30, odds are that I'll end up with a 3.73 from the used market when the time comes. Seems like from what I read it will work fine (compared to my current truck).
