2013 XLT Owned for 4 days, likes and dislikes....

For what it's worth. New XLT, 203A package, etc.

Put 130k miles on my 05 Eddie Bauer, probably the best daily driver I've owned in my 57 years. I've been holding out for the redesigned and repowered EXpedition, but just couldn't wait any longer.

Likes:
Good fit/finish (like my '05)
Comfortable interior ( like my 05)
Great ride (much better than my 05)
Quiet (hard to compare with a 130k vehicle)

Dislikes:
Loss of the left rear storarge bin over the rear tire area, (now presumably houses the power rear fold mechanicals)

Nav.
I just don't get it, much smaller than the Nav in my wife's Accord. Not as intuative or easy as the Accord or $140 TomTom Xl
Resolution not nearly as good as either above
In radio mode, left side icons are hidden alittle by the suround, have to move my heard to fully see them. The Tom Tom clearly shows distance to destination (so does Ford, it's about 1/2 the size of a dime, maybe more), estimated time to arrive, miles to destination, speed (which I tended to use more than the speedo) I like the colors and graphics much better of both non-Fords much better. Clock on Ford sure is small and tucked in the right upper corner. I'm literally considering reinstalling (hardwiring like the '05) the TomTom back in the lower left hand corner of the dash.

Center console
Not as long/large as '05, but deeper, but the lid only folds back to a 90* position. It's a struggle to get my right elbow around it to reach in the console. I struggled every time I tried to use it. Hard to get my arm around it to retrieve change. Just not nearly as easy to use, and why?? I may try to modify the bracket to allow the lid to fold further reward.

And the winner: the Accelerator pedal
I need the dealer to look at it, it's almost like I'm fighting the hard pedal all the time, I didn't say a word, my wife drove it one time and that was her first comment. After a few hours in it today, almost kinda made my right foot sore. Then got home, jumped in another car, pulled out onto the street and actuall (accidently) spun the tires taking off. I was almost constantly aware of it all day when driving.

Your mileage may vary...

I'll add to this, the accel pedal seems the same as my 08 on my 13, my wife says it seems hard to push, doesn't seem it to me but then again I have a size 13 foot too so there's a bit of weight moving down on it.

Fuel economy is running me about 11.4 in the 1st 300 and some miles. The 5.4 still sucks ***** compared to even the GM 5.3, not as smooth or linear and way overwhelmed but I knew that when I purchased it. A 16 sec truck is a 16 sec truck.

Now the kicker...heading in monday due to a noise while at highway speeds coming from the LHS.

The plus. I think I would buy another King Ranch in a heartbeat, everyone loves the real leather.

There is something to be said about that KR leather. It's easier to keep up than I thought it would be as well.

"not smooth or linear" describes mine as well, moderate acceleration seems vague

The "LHS"?

Humm....dropping off tomm something is letting go in the driveline. Either the transfercase or transmission. Having some serious vibration with the converter locked up in the 1000 to 1200 rpm range.

montecarlo31,

I'm interested in what the outcome of your trip to the dealer will be. Sounds just like the issue I am having. FWIW, the dealer claims mine is considered to be normal vibration/clunking.

Keep is posted. Thx

I haven't had time to drop it off as I had other things come up. It's still there, a rough vibration between 900 and 1500 now in 3rd plus with the converter locked. I would venture to say it's a bad converter. I'm not too concerned since there is plenty of warranty remaining.

It is exceptionally noticeable at lower speeds vs higher speeds.

I have had my 2013 Limited Black on Black now for 4 days, has 158 miles on it. I love it. I had a 1998 EB Expedition and loved it. I got the 98 used with 63,000 miles and it ran until I traded it in with over 213,000 miles on it. Only thing that ever happen to it was it blew out the number 8 plug one day.
My new Limited I got fully loaded with the DVD player in the head rest, very nice. Has anyone put on a hood protector and a moon roof wind deflector, and if you did what brand did you use?

Thanks

I have the clear 3M hood film on there and should have the llumar air blue on the windshield this week along with the side windows tinted.

I still haven't had time to take it in but driving it more makes me wonder if maybe it's not a converter going out but simply a bad u-joint as I notice a click on take off when turning. A bad CV or u-joint will give a nasty vibration at times as well.
