I have the opportunity to buy n aFe cold air intake for my 08 5.4 for 75.00. My truck has exhaust already and may get a programmer when my truck is out of warranty. My question is should I just stay OEM or go for it with the aFe?

 

Since you already have an exhaust, aFe is a good addition. Although aFe and other branded CAIs can improve the performance of a vehicle; that improvement may not be so noticeable.

 

Don't waste your money.

 

agreed. the stock air box and filter will flow more air than the engine will ever be able to use.
and it draws the outside air straight from the grill, so there is no added benefit to a cai kit other than making your wallet lighter. .

 

on the OP's truck, the exhaust did nothing but sound

and a hot air intake won't do anything but drain his/her/it's wallet further...







now a good tune (canned is not good) is the benefit is

 

A AI is a waste of money. The factory unit flows plenty of air. Spend the money on some good tuning
