Wow ! really glad no one was hurt, but such a waste of a really nice truck and probably thousands of hours of hard work.

 

Seems to me that having a real frame under the thing kept it from folding up and causing more bodily harm! Too bad it happened, but I am glad the person was not driving a Prius!

Now if the owner is parting what is left, I'm looking for front fenders and possibly the grill.

Definately a high speed impact. Good to hear nobody was injured. Damn drunk drivers.

 

Looking at those pictures is kind of scarey. Especially the rear view. The way some of the panels look like they just fractured apart, almost if sheet metal had been replaced with fiberglass. In any restoration, modification, repair, or custom it is critical that the main structure panels be securely welded, brazed, or rivetted/bolted together. Even if it is behind fiberglass. It hurts to see some fine work destroyed.

But the most important thing is the safety of the occupants, if the driver was OK, all is well.

 

Wow those picture make me sick, and its not even my truck! Just thinking of the hours and sweat (not to mention $$$) that went in to that truck.
The silver lining is no serious injuries.

 

What a shame to such a nice beautiful truck. Why did all those spot welds let go at the seams. Were they rusted and covered over.?

 

Hard to believe how it just came apart. Just from the style of the build, I'm guessing it was a mostly cosmetic body shop project, prolly with a chevy engine.

 

It does not look like the panel flipped onto it's side. No scratch markings on the left side panels. I just cannot believe how all those spot weld joints all separated. Even at the cab front where the firewall and kick panel are welded. That split open from the welds. What gives. Was this a Friday built truck at the factory. Even spot welds bulged out on both front and back doors.
Such a beautiful truck now scrap metal.

 

Rusty spot welds are the easiest to separate. Good reason to throw some beads at the corners on a resto.
