Hi all,

Am looking to purchase a 2012 Expy (I'm presently a long-time Chev Suburban owner). After reading reviews and checking out the Expy and the 5.4l, how concerned should I be over the cam phasers in the 5.4l? They seem to have been (or still are) a weak spot. Everything I've read about them have been mostly on older 5.4l's - and I'm not sure that's because of the age/miles or if the part was re-engineered in later model years. What's the scoop? Has the issue been resolved in newer models? Any other concerns I should have regarding the 5.4l or an Expy?

My Suburbans been great for 10+ years of ownership. Am just hitting 116k and it's been virtually problem-free (of course I'm a stickler for keeping up on maint + using synthetics). Am really hoping to have the same sort of luck on my next vehicle - hopefully an Expy!
