Body work-What should I do

I recently bought a 1959 F 100 that is in pretty decent shape body wise with no bad rust and the original paint. Someone brush painted primer over the bare spots to protect it. It has a few minor dents. My question is this. There was a dent the size of a goose egg where the cab is rounded behind the door. It is about an inch and a half deep. It is easily accessable from the cab and you can feel it from inside. My son in law who works in a body shop and should know what he is doing filled the dent with filler before I rescued the truck back from him. Other shallow dents are also covered with filler. I'm concerned mostly about the goose egg. I don't want to paint the truck and then have the filler crack or fall out. This doesn't seem like the proper way to repair a dent to me. There is also a shallow four inch long flat dent that was filled on the door that is accessable from the inside door panel cover. These are probably the worst dents on the truck. What should I do? with them. The other question I have, the primer is for sure going to have to be sanded off. The original top paint surface comes off as chalk if I rub it with my fingers. Should it be taken off to bare metal? Im thinking the cab should be sanded and then the body work done on it. Sand blasting is not an option since the cost is more than I paid for the truck. There was no bed and I am building a flat bed stake side so I don't have to contend with restoring a bed. It's going to be a week end, recreational driver and not a show truck but I want it to look decent.

I have to start dieting every spring about this time. I am 53 and a fat azz.

Oh, you meant the truck, I get it! LOL! Someone will be able to give you some serious advice shortly, just wanted to welcome you to FTE. My truck is in its' original condition since it is a driver. Welcome, and stick around for the madness.....Steve
