2013 Navi running boards

My automatic running boards have 3 settings, in, out and auto. The out selection is good until I drive it then they retract and goes back to the previous setting. I would like them to deploy when I open the first door and stay deployed until I drive again (or deploy when I go into Park). The reason is that when I park, I am in and out of the vehicle many times and it is a pain to have them going in and out every time I open a door. Because auto is too irritating, I keep them at the in setting. They return to the in setting after I set them to out as soon as I drive. Any ideas? Does this describe how the out setting is supposed to work?

That's how my 2007 and 2008 worked. Never bothered me if in/out often. Not sure how you would change it.

It's a bit of a peeve for me as well, the only option is to change the setting in the computer everytime you enter exit the vehicle but that is obviously cumbersome. Would be nice to have an in/out button on the door handle that overrides the system when the vehicle ignition is turned off.

Thanks for the responses. I have a response the dealer obtained from Ford. When driven over 5mph, the setting will return to Auto and that is the only method of operation supported. Does not mean it cannot be changed, just means they will not help program if it can be changed
