One project over and not the shifter falls apart....
So I finished replacing 85% of the cooling system, new radiator, pump, thermostat, thermostat housing, hoses, caps, etc etc. Then on the way home today the linkage assembly feel apart and I had to get towed.......
Does anyone know anything about there?
Its a rebuilt tranny, was 3 on the tree now 3 on the floor. the tow guy said just a bolt was missing but i head a LOT more metal clanking down the freeway then just a bolt. I never got to look at it so I have no idea what's missing. Am I going to have to pull the tranny to fix this?
Any ideas? Im sure pictures would help, let me know if I should take some.
Thanks,
Chris

You should not have to pull the trans to fix a shifter.
In some cases, like my old Hurst 3 and 4 speed shifters, the shifter has a hole in the works so you can put a 1/4" drill bit through the works, aligning the stick and the rods to the neutral position.
You then put the trans in neutral and adjust the rods to the arms on the trans.
It really depends on what you lost as to how big a pita this will be.
Also, chock your wheels before you climb under this thing and put it in neutral.....
