My 2011 6.7 diesel has been sitting in a Ford Dealership shop waiting to berepaired now for 2 weeks. Ford motor company refuses to replace the fuel pumpciting "Contaminated Fuel". According to the Dealer this is a$12,000.00 repair. Woah! Im still dizzy. My truck had 58,000 miles on it whenthe first fuel pump started making a loud whirring sound. At that time Fordreplaced the fuel pump and installed 2 new fuel filters at their expense. Thiswas in October 2012. I had the oil and fuel filters changed again in December2012. On February 15th of 2013, at 63000 miles,I was driving down the road whenthe engine out of no where just died. Been running just fine. Called FordDealer and had it towed to the shop at my expense. They took a sample of thefuel and it was fine. They then pulled out some sensor and called ford. Thesensor showed a brown tint on the metal surface meaning, according toFord," Fuel Contamination". I've been buying my fuel at the sameplace for years and I presently own 3 other diesel trucks that have over100,000 miles on them with no problems using the same fuel. According to themechanic at the Ford dealership they have had alot of problems with the 6.7fuel system and Ford refuses to make the proper fixes. My so called "Fuelcontamination light" has never come on warning me of such disastrousconsequenses of contaminated fuel. I turned this over to my insurance companyto no avail. Meanwhile my truck just sits. Hope someone needs a 50000.00trotline weight. Look on the internet this has been a freQuent problem with the6.7 and will continue till Ford owns up to their mistake and takesresponsibility for their product. I had 2 other Fords and just sold them. FordIm done with u guys!

 

Why should Ford pay for bad diesel? Hope you kept your receipt. Get with store owner. They should make it right.

49k on my 2011 6.7L and acting like a champ! No problems.

 

Sad story, and MAN that's an expensive fuel pump. Has anyone looked into fixing it themself?

I am sorry to hear this story. I think if I myself had an issue with my fuel system and it was fixed by Ford the first time, I would change where i buy fuel. The place may have been awesome to buy fuel at in the past, but who knows, maybe they got a hole in their tank or something got into it and contaminated the tank. I would look at it as it dosen't matter if I ate at the same restaurant every single day for 10 years, if the day came that I got sick from eating their food and I ended up in the hospital, I would never return to eat there again. I wouldnt put it past a low paid, pissed off worker to put something in the storage tanks to get back at their boss. Hope everything works out for you, unless this is a fake post like mentioned before.

Seems to me I read the same scenario on another thread a few months ago. My dealer bends backwards for customers with diesel issues.

Another thing is that the way the words all worktogether. I believe you get this resultwhen you copy and paste from another place such as Microsoft word. I typed this up in Word and copied and pastedit into the forum just to see if the words join together like they did in theoriginal post. When I typed it out inword it was formatted correctly with all the spaces between the words. So wewill see if when I post this if it resembles the original post.

 

Yup it was copied and pasted from Word or some other program, not just typed into the forum.

I don't know if it's a real person going through a real situation or what. When you join a forum and your first post is nothing but spewing rage, you have to wonder if it is genuine or not. There isn't enough information to form an opinion if you ask me. So he either comes back and tells the story calmly or I'm getting back to loving the crap out of my truck

 

yes guys this is a real post. I originally wrote it in microsoft word and copied and pasted it in the forum. Dont know why the words ran together. But yes this is not an isolated incident. It has happened to alot of 6.7 owners. The main problem i believe is the Bosch pump doesnt get enuff lubrication with this low sulfur diesel we have to use nowdays. and if any water happens to get in the system the pump thrashes due to no lubrication. Like i said the sample of fuel i took when it happened was fine showing no water or other contaminates and the filters were clean. But 12,000.00 dollars to fix this problem seems way excessive to me. The water in fuel light has never come on since ive had this truck. The dealers mechanic told me he has fixed several 6.7 powerstrokes with the same problem and has voiced his opinion on several occasions to Ford and with no results. The Ford Customer Service Dept. told me i needed to crawl under the truck once a week and drain the filter. Yeah Right. Had I known this I would have never bought this truck. And Yes i just bought a 2013 Ford F150 in December which is on my profile. I really like the truck but i just dont trust Ford anymore.

 

Ford doesn't make the pump. It's the same pump used by GM, volkswagen, BMW, and others and this has happened to all of them.
You should call you insurance company and tell them you got contaminated fuel somewhere any they should cover the repairs.
