read this on Motor Trend yesterday, 3.0 DOHC diesel with 400 ft/lbs that gets 30mpg on the hwy, 8 speed auto tranny. Diesel is imported from Italy, rest is quality (lol) Dodge/Jeep. I really wish Ford would put a similar diesel in the F150/Expy, without it jacking it in to premium price territory, like the Eco-boost has done. Your not saving money in gas if you pay a ton more over the plain gas model. I would be willing to pay a little more, say a couple grand to get the diesel, but it has to be an option in all models. If I want a plain jane 150 with a diesel, I should be able to buy it.

The new diesel is built by Motori. It is owned jointly by Fiat & GM. GM is using this diesel in Europe. Motori was once owned by Detroit Diesel.
It is much more powerful than the MB diesel that Dodge used.
As for Ford using a diesel I would bet they won't, because they have bet the farm on the Eco-Boost engines. A small diesel would run competition with the EB. Competing with yourself isn't a real smart business move.
Dodge has been on the move since it first introduced the NEW RAM in 1994 I own a 99 Dodge 2500 4x4 QC V-10 5 speed, I love it. It has been one of the cheapest big truck to own I have ever owned. I have to say I owned a couple of Ford Ranger 4x4 in the early 90s that were excellent trucks with very little cost to own.

Ford needs to get with the program. The Expy isn't offered with the Eco Boost. That Jeep looks pretty promising. Even if the offer the Expy with EB, it wont get 30 mpg.
