351w swap into 79 f150 4x4
Hi I have a 79 Ford F 150 4x4 motor was a 351 modified it's an automatic I have recently bought a 351 Windsor and automatic trans for this truck. The transmission is a c6 my question is the original c6 tail shaft between trans and transfer case is 5 and a half inches the tail shaft on the transmission from the 351 W is 9 and a half inches. will my original drive shafts work does anyone know ? I pulled the 351w motor and transmission out of 79 Bronco

I wish I could post pictures on here I've come a long way on this truck .I started with a truck my wife and daughter bought for 700 bucks to replace the one I sold for her to get her first car. what they bought was a rusty 700 dollar truck but it had 4 wheels and a good title it's all I needed. The cab was in good shape back a frame was shot holes rusted through don't know if you're familiar with Yankee lake but this was an old Yankee Lake truck.mud was packed up under dash unbelievabl. I found a 1976 f250 frame that is mint but it and also a 4 inch lift kit. This whole project takes place my gravel driveway. getting the cab on the new frame was no easy task without a lift .Again wish I could post pictures.this is a low or no budget bild. I'm a carpenter by trade. so when a side job comes my way the money goes to the truck so im going on 2 1/2 years so pretty excited to hear this thing run it will be great to move the truck with out the help of my little garden tractor lol wish me luck

You can save the pictures to photobucket and then add them that way from what I understand or create an album in your account and then you can copy and paste the url there. As far as your tranny question, I would think that as long as the distance from the bell housing to where the tail shaft bolts on is the same measurements as your old one then you should be home free or maybe I have read wrong

I did a 400m to 351W Swap.. it has GT40p heads. so headers for it are hard to get used and there a tight fit.
as for the drive shafts. the rear drive shaft fit in like before no issue.
front drive shaft fits perfect also. but the issue here is [ 79 broncos didnt come out with 351W until 80s. so your gonna have a issue with your Shift linkage rubbing your Front drive shaft.|
if its a C6 SBF bellhousing then its the same shaft as your old 351m BB bellhousing trans
