Did My Computer RESET (via Disconneting Bat.) ??

Folks,

I recently replaced my starter (WHAT a PAIN , btw - That front gearbox made it a 5 hour job).

ANYWAY....the Negitive battery cable was disconnected overnight. I reconnected it in the am and all works fine.

HOWEVER, I noticed my passcode on the driver's door keypad was still programmed in. Since I assumed the onboard computer reset, I expected to have to reprogram that.

I'm wondering simply b/c my Exp. has 100+ K miles on it and I would like to reset the computer...just for good measure (especially after a recent tune-up).

Did it happen with the bat. disconnnect? Or is there something else that needs to be done?

THANKS !

should be more than ample time for the computer to have been cleared

Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone know why the PassCode on the keypad did not clear too?

and/or

Is that passcode clearning and indicator of the computer resetting (or not setting)?

Thanks

In my experience with the computers, the passcode does not reset when the computer has been reset, it is probably stored somewhere that is not affected by the computer reset. But if you had your battery disconnected overnight then you definately rest the computer

really doesn't matter which you disconnect. either one disrupts the flow of current from the vehicle. safety dictates that you disconnect the negative post first on negatively grounded vehicles to prevent accidentally shorting the positive to the chassis. allow a few minutes to reset the computer before hooking up the battery again.
