electrical help

ok, here's the deal. 59 project: I got a 400 sitting in the chassis no body. I have no electrical connected but i want to start the engine to make sure all is good, no leaks good pressures that way if i have to remove it for some reason theres nothing in the way. My dist. has 3 wires and plugs into ignition box i have a motorcraft ignition box has 5 total wires and the coil. Where do i need to put power and wires and etc. to get this thing to start. any help or suggestions would be sooooo helpful.

thanks

What year 400? 70's? 80's? It might be best to post to the forum that has these engines original to their trucks. There might be guys in this forum that know what you want but more likely in others.

If everything is all plugged together I think you could power up either the red or white wire at the module and provide 12 volts to the coil + to fire it up. I wouldn't run the coil on a full 12 volts for very long, it was designed to be about 9 volts or so in the run position.

Thanks for the info. I guess adding a duraspark II is pretty popular, found lots of wiring help on the net. But your info was correct, thanks.
