Roof Rack

Roof Rack
I saw an Expedition the other day that really caught my eye. It looked really good in a different way. I couldn't make out what it was that was different til I got back to look at mine. It had the roof rack removed. It looked great. I was wondering if anyone has done this before ? Is it as easy as I would imagine or will there be holes and water leaks to worry about , etc? Thanks for your help and info.

I bet it would like nice without it

this came from another forum but it was a 3rd gen. I did not do this myself - but here is what a member on another forum did.
"I though I'd post this for those looking to do this mod.
It's a ten minute job - you need a flat blade screwdriver and a #27 torx driver. Insert the screwdriver under the rearmost edge of the rear plastic caps on the rack (between the cap and the rubber base) and lift up. The cap will pop off. Repeat for all four caps (screwdriver under the front most edge on the front caps.) FYI. the cap faces outward.
Remove the two torx screws under each cap.
Slide the entire rack rearward to disengage the keyhole locks on the center mount.
Re-install the removed screws, with some rubber washers underneath (the nut-serts are through holes). If you are not going to mount another rack, consider more thorough sealing against water."
