I need a new, rebuilt, or parts list and availability for steering gear box for my 1960 f600 truck. I saw where Number Dummy helped a fellow find parts to rebuild gear box on his 1962 f600. I feel sure mine is obsolete also, so if it is obsolete I am listing all info. on the glove compartment i.d. plate.

Four eyes; Is there still an ID tag on one of the four bolts on the bottom of your gear box or a casting number on the box it self. These numbers will help to get the correct repair parts for that gear box incase it has been changed through the life of the truck.
I'm sure Bill will be along when he can.

 

LMC parts has a rebuilt one as well as most of the parts for that model

I gave you bad info on that stearing box.LMC does not sell parts for f600.I guess i need to read more and speak less.sorry

Just in case anyone else is having the same problem as I am, Dennis Carpenter no longer carries reman. steering boxes for f600 trucks. I checked with them today.

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

Your only choice is to buy the individual parts or send the box to Seattle WA and have it rebuilt by redheadsteeringgears.com

I'd be very leery buying parts from LMC. Since there are two different gearboxes for these trucks, how will you know if they have the correct parts for yours?

You will need: Steering shaft and worm, the bearings and cups for it. Sector shaft (B7Y-3575 A - 15 available NOS) and bushings. Shims, housing gasket, a sector shaft seal and etc.

If you wish, I will look these parts up, see what I can find NOS, as all are obsolete.
