Will a 429 Cobra Jet engine bolt to a 75 f250 4 speed?

I have a 429 Cobra Jet engine. I was wondering if it would bolt up to the original 4 speed transmission in a 75 highboy 4x4?

I'm pretty sure the 429 shares the bellhousing bolt pattern as 460s, 351m,351c,and 400 all of which were not an option for a 75 4x4.

number dummy is gonna come along and tell you no 429/460 4wd manual transmissions in the 70's... its a difficult one to piece together if youre trying to make it work. 429 is very similar to the 460. may want to try a search for 460 4 speed and read what others have tried.

Welcome! The 429 shares the "Big Block" Bellhousing. It will adapt to the 351M - 460. With the exception of the 360, 390, 427, and 428. These use the FE Bellhousing.

All you have to do is get a bell from a 400, it will bolt to your tranny.

the bell might, but what about flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and starter? thats where it seems that most people have problems.

They should be the same because the 429 and the 460 share the same block. To my understanding.

429 w/Ford 4 speed top loader: 1969 Galaxie/LTD/Mercury Marquis/Police Cruiser 429 4V / 1969/71 Mustang/Cougar/Fairlane/Torino/Comet 429 CJ & S/CJ.

429: 1968/71 Thunderbird, 1968/73 misc Ford/Merc Passenger Cars. Not installed in F100/350's.

All 1968/82 460's came with a C6. 460's not available with 4WD or M/T until 1983. All 1983/97 460 F250/350's came w/a hydraulic clutch.

460: 1968/78 Lincoln/Continental Marks / 1972/76 Thunderbird / 1973/78 misc Ford/Merc Passenger Cars // 1973/76 F100 / 1973/79 F250/350 / 1975/79 F150 / 1975/97 E250/350 / 1983/97 F250/350.

1979: TWO different 460 engines: Mid-year 1979 460 block casting number: D9TE-6015-AB = Uses a weighted spacer, the flywheel (flexplate) and harmonic balancer are specific to this casting number.

D1VE-6015-AB block casting number used 1971/73 429, 1971/78 460 and some 1979 460's. Does not have a weghted spacer.

D9TE: This was a "running change" that occurred in 1979, so there are no before/from specific serial numbers/production dates. The block casting must be known to get correct parts.
