bronco 302 transmission options

hey guys so recently i have been doing a big project on my 93 5.0 bronco. when i first started i thought it was a head gasket but it turns out i had a nice big chunk taken out of one of my pistons. so i have decided to either rebuild it or buy a new engine. i have found one for sale that is a 302 out of a 72 torino that somebody put a 88 lower intake on to convert it to fuel injection. so i though of buying it but then i realized that theres no way my automatic E40D is gonna bolt to this engine. is there any kind of converter kit for this? any help is much appreciated! i miss driving the old bronco around and wanna get her back on the road ASAP!

You will only run into issue after issue if you go down this route. Just find a proper Windsor 302 or 351 and everything else should be smooth sailing.

What makes you think that? The trans bolt pattern has never changed on these engines so any year will bolt right up. What you will have problems with are the cam because it's not EFI friendly and the heads because they don't have the hardened valve seats needed for unleaded gas.

As Paul said, the cam is not SD/EFI friendly AND those heads won't have hardened valves for unleaded fuel unless they have been redone with said hardened valves. Your E4OD needs the ECM for your fuel-injected engine to operate properly but the cam in that engine won't support an EFI swap. By the time you make that engine capable of going into your truck, you could probably find a more readily adapted one and ultimately spend less time and money doing it.

ok, ok you guys persuaded me! anyways i have another question. i found a 5.0 from a 88 f150 that i am going to get for it. he said it comes with the computer for it. should i use the one he gives me or can i just hook the big wiring harness to my same computer from my 93? also will my tourqe converter bolt on to the flexplate of that engine?
