Removing Crown Vic IFS from donor car

Curious to hear from those who have pulled their own IFS from a donor crown vic. My local (but still far way) pull-it-yourself yard has a few '03+ and I'm wondering how difficult it would be to remove the IFS? Do any other parts need to come out before it can be removed (like the engine)?

Thanks.

The engine mounts to the IFS. Make sure you get the rear control arm brackets. Depending on how you do the install, you may want to just cut the frame where the IFS bolts on.

Thanks, that's what I thought. That'll make it difficult to manage in a pull-it-yourself yard.

I was reading a post on removing a Jag IFS, which also has the engine mounted to the susp. crossmember, and it was suggested to find a bar to lay across the fenders. Then hook a chain to the engine and over the bar to hold the engine up while removing the suspension.

Maybe you can buy the whole car and sell them back what you don't use and take you time doing it.

I read a post where a person took the IFS, engine, trans, wiring harness/computer, etc and installed it all in a truck. Another one where they dropped the truck on the Crown Vic Frame.

For mine I have the Crown Vic IFS but the engine, trans, IRS and other goodies from a a Mark VIII.

DOHC and the Teksid aluminum block. The Cobra (98-99?) had the same block but a forged crank and different cams on the intakes.

I will have pics of the DOHC in engine bay soon. Google Crown Vic IFS F100 and you should find several builds

Use a good cordless Sawzall and take 4 blades at least, more like 6 and that way you can grind the welds on the mounts and use them on your own truck.

Those spacers are only held in with welds on the top of the frame I took my cut off wheel and cut around them and just ground off the weld and frame pieces.
