2007 expedition antenna wire routing

Does anyone know the routing of the factory antenna wiring. I just installed an aftermarket stereo in my 07 expedition and am trying to find the wire routing for the antenna. I have always had poor reception even before changing out my stereo. I unhooked the window antenna with the stereo on and could tell no difference in reception. I noticed that the cable behind the stereo is a coax and the cable at the antenna is a pair of wires not coax. I was wondering if maybe someone knew where the connector was that change the cable from coax to cable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I belive it runs down the passenger door sils. Pull off the sills and see if you can spot the wires.

from what I could tell behind the radio it went toward the driverside or atleast that is the direction of the wire loom I can only see it near the steering wheel after that it disapears. I will check the passenger side pillar.

Its in the sills, make sure you are powering the amp for the antenna as well

You are correct about the amp it was located on the passenger side back seat pillar. The problem wa I wasn't powering it up. I had not hooked up the power antenna connection on the stereo because I didn't think it needed to be hooked up. I guess I was wrong, the stations come in Loud and clear now. I have to say that I really like the sound of hd radio.

Thanks for all of the help.

I am confused. There is a power antenna hook up in the factory wiring?

Did you use a wiring harness kit for the aftermarket stereo?

I replaced my aftermarket radio with another aftermarket radio due to touchscreen issues. Also I was having problems with my rear dvd player. It was in a limited use mode because I didn't have the factory canbus stereo. To get the functionality back I installed a PAC module C2R-FRD1. This was a nice kit that connected between the factory harness and the aftermarket harness. The previous owner had an aftermarket unit put in but only used a wiring harness not a canbus module. They went down the same road I did because they cut a yellow/blue wire from the factory harness and connected it to a 12 volt switched power to give the amplifier power. When I seen they had cut the wire I reconnected it to the factory harness because I was using a different harness. When connecting my new pac harness to my stereo I didnt hook up the wiring for the power antenna because I didn't have a power antenna I didn't realize that the power antenna output actually turned on the antenna amplifier. In the end If I would have left there wiring alone I would have never had a problem. I was just trying to make the harness factory again. Guess I should have left well enough alone.

Ahh! Got it. I was considering swapping out my factory HU for a aftermarket HU. Crutchfield kept pushing the PAC module, but I am still not sure exactly what it does. Can you explain that?

I don't use the rear seat entertainment controls at all, but want to keep the OEM amp/sub working.

The pac module simulates the canbus so the rear dvd player will work properly. Also I think it actually sends to 12 volt switched power to the new stereo. If I recall there is no 12 volt switched power to the factory harness I think the factory stereo is turned on with the canbus. So you would either have to run a new switched hot or use the pac module. I think that your output for the amp from the aftermarket stereo would go through the pac module. I am not 100% sure if the output actually goes through the pac module or just through the wiring harness. I will say that the pac module was very easy to use. I was able to connect the new stereo harness and the pac module together while setting at the table and just go plug it all in the truck. highly recommended. I think there maybe a few other modules on the market that will do the same thing for you.
