I have a 59 2wd swb f100 . Id love to make it 4wd . Is ther any frames out there that would be suitable for 4wd swap. I'm new to the whole frame swaps so I haven't a clue what would work and what won't.my main goal is to lift it and puts some biger tires on it possibly light duty ofroading . thanks for your help.

 

Are you asking about a frame swap because you want to go to newer running gear & powertrain? No experience with the 2wd's of this era, but aren't they leaf-sprung on the front end? Wouldn't it be easier to just have new front & rear springs built & buy a solid front axle and T-case(cases for these trucks were divorce-mounted anyway)?

 

I'd like to make mine 4wd and am trying to fin a easy way to do it .

 

Just find a 4wd 59 or 60 the running gear just swaps.

 

Aren't the wheel bases off by a lot ? I know mines 110 inch

 

Just swap the front ends it all just bolts right up. I did it to a 1960 f100 2wd. I got a 59 factory 4wd drive that had nothing worth saving but the running gear, so I swapped the front end into the 60. And it all just bolted right up.

No problem, but if u plan on running big tires like 33 or up and plan on "wheelin" it I wouldn't use the closed knuckle Dana 44 they ain't very strong and someone correct me if I'm wrong on any of this

 

Just big tires . Not really any hard core mudding or anything major.

 

Just to add to what 594x4 said. You could probably go for a little later model 4x4 as in 61-65 F100 series and get the job done too. I have not done this before so if that the route you can go make lots of measurements before getting involved on this suggestion. All the running gear looks very similar and I belive the frames are almost the same. Remeber you will need the cross member for the transfer case also. Thats pretty evident but thought I would mention it. 61-65 F100 will have the dana 44 front axle and they are leaf sprung. 66 F100 4x4 is based off the bronco front end has coil springs so would not be what you are looking for.

There are a couple of complete (running gear wise) F100s (63-64) in a wrecking yard nearby. Unfortunately, there are a few miles between NY and ND!

 

I know seems like most of the good stuff left is west or south of here. I had a chance at a 60 f250 4wd bad every thing but the chassis eng and drivetrain . For 250. But I dident think about doing the swap till this past fall. That was last yr and has sense been scraped .

Any body that can help with the parts list for the swap it would be much appreciated .thanks

 

I have a 1960 F250 Big Back Window FACTORY 4X4 for sale. Complete minus engine (was a V8), radiator, and bed. EVERYTHING else is there and front and back glass are not cracked. Axles, driveshafts, trans, steering and everything else you can imagine are there.
