Sad day on "The Rock"

Well, I went to Christian's here in Oak Harbor for some carb parts and no luck. I then go up the road to A-1 and before even getting out of the truck, there was a sign on the door, "We no longer sell used parts". I went to inquire about this and they said the yard was closed as they are now "Jet City Equipment". When I asked what was happening to the vehicles in the yard (please bow your head) they said "crush 'em and send 'em to China" I guess I will have to head off island for new-used parts.

I was after an auto choke for a FoMoCo 2100 carb. Mine has a stripped out choke stove pipe but when I go to the yards I look over them all and see if something catches my eye! I see on Craigs list that NW auto recyclers in Lake Stevens is always positing trucks to part out. Might be taking a road trip on Saturday.

I have a post on the main site and someone gave me an idea about Hi temp epoxy but I want to fix it correctly and not "rig" it together. I will know by Friday if I will cruze over there and PM you for your info. Thanks.

I will try to swing by the wrecking yard tomorrow and check out some carbs. I printed out the pics you posted online to help me look to see if they have what your looking for

I have a good idea of what your talking about for the choke. But sadly most of the carbs at my local yard are gone, manual, or destroyed and stripped form useful parts.

Good news! Went to NW auto recyclers in Lake Stevens (70+ miles 1 way) paid my dollar entry fee, and found a choke, right rear lower trim panel and a new fan with clutch for $30. Hopefully the sky will dry up tomorrow so I can get this stuff put on.

Good deal! around here the yard entry is free but parts can vary from $10 for a $30 part to the reverse of $30 for a $10 part. It all depends on how the cashier sees the part and what kind of day they are having.
