How many miles do you get from Full to warning light?

New 07 Expedition EL owner here. Reading the specs makes it look like the EL has a standard 33.5 gal tank. I ran it down to about 10 miles from "empty" and got only about 25 gallons back into it. After reading many threads about how either we can have 7-8+ gallons left after 0 miles left, and difficulties of getting the the tank to fill all the way up, and inaccuracies with the fuel gauge....

what i really want to know is how many miles can you get from a full tank. It seems this would be a much easier way to determine when to fill up. I think our Expy suffers from all three issues above.

It's wildly inaccurate but errors on the good side. I got 25 miles or so after 0 before I ran out of gas. YMMV.

I can easily get 400 or close miles from a fill up.
On the highway I can easily get 500 from a tank.
I do drive it 'easy' though.. not like I stole it.

The problem with the miles to empty thing is that it's based on your average fuel economy and then how much fuel is left in the tank. So if you drive like you stole it for the last 50 miles trying to get to a gas station and it's still averaging it based on the entire tank full ( or last time you reset it ) then it's not going to be very accurate. A word to the wise though, running it down to empty is never a good thing.

The most I've ever filled into my '10 EL 4x4 is 31.5 gallons. IIRC ~36 miles after the 0 miles notification whilst on the freeway getting about 18 mpg.
